Fight fans can follow J4Joy International Promoters’ maiden tourney at Feather Theatre in Gqeberha on e.tv, CEO of the Mpumalanga-based boxing company Arnold “Squire” Nododile has confirmed.
“The privately owned free-to-air television station will air the whole tournament live,” said Nododile.
The tournament will be headlined by a WBF junior featherweight title fight between Thato Bonokoane and Argentinean Diego Alberto Ruiz.
“They [e.tv] told us that they were actually planning to come back to boxing, so we came at just the right time; our vision fell right in line with their plans,” said Nododile.
“This is the beginning of a fruitful relationship which is not only for us but for the boxing fraternity in general,” he said. “When we came into boxing last year the sport was not on SABC. Multiple reasons were given, retrenchments that had taken place there ... and they said they had no budget for boxing.
“Our chairman Jacob Mnisi told them that he will take care of everything. We have our own Mailbox Media so we used our crew; SABC provided the satellite feed."
