Government must take over the violent taxi industry
The ongoing taxi violence that results in casualties and fatalities must be stopped once and for all and condemned in the strongest terms possible. Can anyone justify the killing of 11 taxi drivers in KwaZulu-Natal at the weekend?
What saddens the most is these Ivory Park Taxi Association drivers were coming from a funeral of one of their own when they met their death in an (apparent well-planned) ambush.
What exactly is the problem? The taxi industry has just too many problems; it's time the government regulates this industry because they can't run it on their own. Taxi drivers think they are a law unto themselves.
It seems normal in this dog-eat-dog industry that one must be violent and own a gun. Why can't they talk and solve their problems like men?
