Former mixed martial arts fighter-turned-professional boxer Boyd Allen must forget about building his name at the expense of John Bopape.

This is a warning from Bopape who is preparing to fight Allen for the vacant WBA Pan-African title at Emperors Palace on March 16.

Allen and his management have also been warned not to read too much into Bopape's not so great fight record - six wins and five losses - because doing so would be playing with fire.

Bopape, who goes by the moniker "Section 29", is guided by veteran trainer William "Bushy" Mabele of the Jersey Joe Gym in Alexandra, Joburg.

The 12 rounder between Bopape and Allen will form part of Golden Gloves' No Mercy bill at the same venue this month.

Reigning IBO cruiserweight holder Kevin "Two Guns" Lerena and Artur Mann from Germany will headline that tournament.

"People will see a completely changed fighter," warned Bopape.

"I have fixed my mistakes and I am coming with something new. I have been using lots of my energy unnecessarily. I doubt that Boyd will see the 12th round."

Mabele shared Bopape's sentiments: "We are winning this title. Boyd will not stand in front of John. John packs mean punches. This guy has got no chance."

Allen, who is trained by both Colin Nathan and Vusi Mtolo, fought his first professional bout last year. He remains undefeated after only two bouts.

Also to feature in that tournament will be Frank Rodriguez and Michael Markram, who will oppose each other for a vacant Gauteng light heavyweight title over 10 rounds.
