Basic education reallocates R400m to Gauteng, Western Cape

The departments of basic education in the Eastern Cape and Mpumalanga have forfeited more than R400m due to having underspent the infrastructure grants for schools. The money was taken away by the national department of education and will be reallocated to other provinces that need it. 

The grants, which were allocated in the 2022-2023 financial year, are meant to help provinces accelerate the construction, maintenance and upgrading of new and existing infrastructure...
