SAPS receives R7.8bn to hire 15,000 new officers

Police will receive 15,000 new recruits over the next three years to help fight the crime pandemic that has plagued the country.

During his budget speech in parliament on Wednesday, finance minister Enoch Godongwana said Treasury has allocated R14bn over the medium-term to fight crime and corruption, with SAPS taking the biggest chunk of R7.8bn to appoint new officers. ..
