City of Joburg mayor Dr Mpho Phalatse is officially off the market.

Phalatse tied the knot with ActionSA member Brutus Malada.

Their wedding caused a social media frenzy with some labelling it a coalition as Phalatse belongs to the DA.

In pictures circulating on social media, Malada and Phalatse can be seen standing next to a couch with a priest in front of them.

There is a Bible on the coffee table with three ladies sitting on a couch, looking at them.

"For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future – Jeremiah 29:11." is written boldly on the wall.

Phalatse wore a short off-white dress while Malada, who is also a political researcher, wore a stunning suit.

The other pictures show the lovebirds standing outside a building with a lion, Bible and cross sign on the doors.

In another picture they are captured holding hands on the staircase.

Malada is well-known public figure, research consultant and political strategist. He has more than 15 years of work experience, including working in international institutions.

Malada. whose Twitter profile has dozens of pictures of him in ActionSA regalia and sometimes posing with party leaders, including Herman Mashaba, on Sunday told Sowetan he and Phalatse would be releasing a statement soon.

Phalatse was appointed as mayor for Johannesburg just over a year ago.

In October, she was dethroned following a motion of no confidence against her and was replaced by ANC’s Dada Morero.

She challenged the decision in the South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg which later ruled in her favour.

The court found that the election of Morero as Joburg mayor was unlawful, unconstitutional and invalid.

Phalatse was reinstated.

Social media users have also commended her for planning a wedding while there was instability in the metro.

Phalatse was not available but   referred Sowetan to her spokesperson, Mabine Seabe, who also could not comment.
