Khanyi Mbau reveals deep secrets
TV and radio personality Khanyi Mbau has of late made it her duty to reveal people's secrets.
From Wednesday, Mbau will host The Big Secret with Khanyi Mbau, to air on BET channel 129 on DStv.
"It's not about celebrities this time, the show is about bringing to the public domain ordinary people's secrets.
"We've people from all walks of life, teachers, teenagers, the young, the old and professionals.
Mbau, who has been through her own turbulent but secretive life, said by speaking out about their secrets, people will be relieving themselves of the burden they have been carrying.
"Those taking part will share their stories with viewers, in turn those watching could follow suit and want to tell all."
Mbau had to go through auditions held a year ago to clinch the spot to present the show, beating a number of popular TV presenters.
"We started shooting two months ago, a total 12 shows have been completed already with the production company Endemol. It's a 13-part series," she said.
According to Endemol, all kinds of secrets are revealed but do not include confessions to crimes.
"The confessor should not have a hidden agenda or stand to benefit monetarily from the revelation.
"The show aims to build, not to damage, people's lives."
Support is also offered to those taking part. As the host, Mbau offers constant support while a confidante accompanies the participant on their journey to revealing their story.
After the show, an in-house therapist offers participants tools that would enable them to deal with the emotional repercussions of the decision they have made to speak out.
