It's not all doom and gloom for former Bafana Bafana international Lerato Chabangu.

Chabangu, 32, has finally found a club in Venda, Mikhado FC, who campaign in the ABC Motsepe League and, while many would probably write him off, he believes he can salvage his career.

He admitted to Sowetan recently that he blew his money on women and cars, but now wants to focus on reviving his career.

Chabangu last played in top-flight league for Chippa United, whom he parted ways with in May last year and had not had a club ever since.

He's not bothered by those who are already writing his football obituary, insisting during our interview that he's still got it in him.

"I've been here in Nzhelele for a week and things are good. In fact, I've been to a place not far from here, so I have some friends around," he said.

"In terms of football, I have to get my confidence and fitness back. If I push myself, who knows? It might happen that I go back to the PSL, so only God knows.

"I will take it from there and whatever comes, I have to grab it with both hands. The age doesn't count, it all depends on performance."

The former Sundowns and Swallows midfielder recently said that it's a win-win situation for him and Mikhado as he will get an opportunity for a fresh start, while the youngsters in the team can benefit from his experience.

"I feel good, but sometimes I feel under pressure because I have to teach the young ones. The expectations are high from the owner [Itani Musandiwa] and the fans. Make no mistake, this team has many fans.

"I think they have a lot to learn from me in terms of my experiences and you can see the team is also struggling, so we have to bounce back," Chabangu said.
