From the booze ban in the World Cup to the unionist who bought the Jacob Zuma book for R20 000, media personality Rams Mabote has you covered in a witty tongue in cheek new podcast that is published on SowetanLIVE on Thursday.

In this week’s episode of Taking the Rams by the Horns, Mabote touches on the downfall of the two lawyers who represented the accused in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial.

He also chats to Muzi Khumalo, the man who bought the first printed copy of former president Jacob Zuma’s book, Jacob Zuma Speaks.

Khumalo, the secretary general of Construction, Mining, Engineering and Energy Workers Union, opens up on why he forked out thousands of rands on a book that is mainly a collection of speeches.

Mabote ends the show by talking with the Sunday Times sports editor Bareng-Batho Kortjaas (BBK) about the World Cup tournaments and why beer taps have run dry in Qatar.

'“It will be a light-hearted take on news and current affairs. Everyone consumes news every day and most of us are depressed by news. News is dark.

"I will be focusing on the light side of dark. I will be finding what can make us laugh a bit from news and not take it too serious. Life is too short to be depressed all the time,’’ says Mabote.
