Firm helps centre soar to great heights

Philips South Africa - an electronics and consumer goods manufacturer - recently gave the United Cerebral Palsy Association (UCPA) a timely shot in the arm.

Philips representative Buyi Zwane handed over pyjamas, underwear, Christmas outfits, towels, socks and shoes to UCPA executive director Marie van den Berg.

This kind gesture has helped bring Christmas cheer to several severely mentally and physically handicapped children and young adults.

Philips, with several other corporate partners, is running the Supply Opportunities and Achieve Results (Soar) campaign, an initiative that helps communities and institutions renovate and refurbish several schools in and around Gauteng.

Soar also supports the schools' extramural activities, including educational excursions, workshops with community support institutions such as safety and security, and fire and health departments.

Sowetan is Soar's print media partner. - Victor Mecoamere
