'The Demon will be unleashed'

Dark horse Prince "The Demon" Dlomo will upset the bookies by dethroning Thompson Mokwana as the SA lightweight champion tomorrow, the boxer's trainer Keith Rass predicted.

Mokwana is a hot favourite to retain his national title in the bout at Ngoako Ramatlhodi Sports Complex in Seshego, Polokwane.

"The Demon will be unleashed," warned Rass. "They will be shocked. Our gratitude goes to the promoter [Phathutshedzo Dongola] for giving us the opportunity after the fight has been postponed and cancelled four times."

Sean Smith, Mokwana's trainer, said: "I don't like to get hopes high but rather deliver on fight night."

The fight will form part of the tournament that will be organised by Limpopo Champions promotions.

Tsiko "Cruel Junior" Mulovhedzi will headline the bill with the first defence of his IBF Continental welterweight belt against Hungarian Laszlo Toth.

Rass has been given little chance based on his charges' unimpressive CV of seven wins and six losses and the fact that the fight tomorrow night will be Dlomo's first 12-rounder.

Mokwana has fought almost 10 12-rounders and has 22 wins, 11 losses and a draw. He won the title from Mzonke Fana in June.

But Rass warned yesterday that his camp will produced an upset of the year.

Tshifhiwa "Timer" Munyai will defend his provincial lightweight title against Thembani Hobyane over 10 rounds.

Dongola has urged the community to support local boxers.
