Ajax Cape Town marksman Prince Nxumalo says he is hoping for a Bafana Bafana call-up to make up for the last time he didn't even make it to camp.

The "Fresh Prince of Ikamva" received a Bafana call-up for the trip to South America in September but was forced to withdraw because he was battling to keep his epilepsy under control.

The constant check-ups on his condition by the Ajax medical team means he's not only back in the field, but he's been banging in the goals. The 25-year-old is now on 11 league goals, which is one behind Collins Mbesuma of Mpumalanga Black Aces.

"A call-up will make me happy," said Nxumalo. "I had a tough time [last year], but the people close to me helped me, and in the end the whole thing didn't affect me mentally.

"I'm fine now and things are going well. The doctors check on me and the club has given me a lot of support."

Bafana Bafana will play Cameroon on March 26 away in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier while the return leg is set for Durban's Moses Mabhida Stadium on March 29.

"It is my wish to be called up and I'm not saying I'm sure I will be there. All I'm saying is I will be very happy if it happens," he said.

Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba's preferred option up front, Tokelo Rantie, is recuperating from injury. He is expected to be out until some time in April.

Mashaba names his squad on Thursday.
