Orlando Pirates must brace themselves for a combustible encounter when they face Jomo Cosmos at Olen Park Stadium in Potchefstroom on Saturday.

The warning was issued by Cosmos owner-coach Jomo Sono as he put his charges through their paces yesterday.

"Thank God the grass is green since it has been raining consistently these past few days. Otherwise if the conditions had remained the same and left the grass dry, then we would have needed fire extinguishers," joked the free-talking Sono yesterday.

"That is what you must expect when confronting someone in their own back yard - war."

Adding further spice to this encounter is the fact that both sides need a win badly to improve their perilous positions in the Absa Premiership.

Ezenkosi lie in 14th place with 10 points from 14 matches.

The Buccaneers are 11th, with 16 points.

"People must be at Olen Park to see for themselves because we are equally capable of winning this game. There is no team that is easy meat in the league," reasoned Sono.

But he also feels hamstrung in the top flight.

"I don't think there is any coach in the PSL who can enjoy being in my shoes, given that my entire team comprises players from the National First Division," Sono said.

"There are coaches who are very fortunate that their teams boast the crème de la crème [of players] but if you gave them Cosmos, I tell you now they would quit.

I'm proud of my players' efforts."

He said there were seven "very good players" around the country who wanted to sign up for Cosmos but he cannot bring them on board as he still needs to recover financially.

"I lost millions when we were still campaigning in the NFD league."
