BAFANA Bafana have nothing to fear from the once unstoppable Selecao of Brazil, who are also rebuilding their team ahead of the 2014 World Cup.

South African legends Doctor Khumalo and Phil Masinga said the current crop of Bafana were capable of becoming the first team to beat Brazil. The two sides meet in an international friendly in São Paulo tomorrow night. SA and Brazil have m et thee times - two in friendlies and in the 2009 Confederations Cup - with the South Americans narrowly winning all of them.

In their first game, Brazil beat Bafana 3-2 after being 2-0 down in the first half at Soccer City in April 1996.

Subsequent to that, Brazil won 2-1 at Ellis Park Stadium in September 1997. During the 2009 Confederations Cup, Brazil pipped Bafana 1-0 at Ellis Park.

"It will be a tough one, we are playing Brazil in their territory. Just like us, Brazil are rebuilding the team for the 2014 World Cup," said Khumalo.

"Their team is made up of mainly players who were at the London Olympics, where they once more failed to win the event. When we played Brazil at Soccer City, coach Clive Barker told us they are human beings like us. Clive urged us not to fear them at all. We were the first nation to score two goals against that star-studded Brazil team of Bebeto, Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo in the first half.

"We had a very solid team, one of the best teams in the world," said Khumalo, who scored the second goal and created the first against Brazil at Soccer City.

"Brazil can be beaten, our players must always give their utmost when they wear the national jersey."

Masinga, who scored the first goal against Brazil at Soccer City, said: "Our players have nothing to lose, in fact they have a lot to gain in Brazil. We should just play our normal game, Brazil can also be beaten. "
