Downs duo not likely to move

MAMELODI Sundowns say they are awaiting offers from Germany and Russia for their two players who have been on recent overseas trials, but coach Johan Neeskens suggests the pair will be staying in the Premier Soccer League.

Siyanda Xulu played his first game back at Sundowns on Sunday after trials in Russia while Nyasha Mushekwi was also back in the club's colours as a substitute against Moroka Swallows after returning on Friday from a week in Germany.

Mushekwi went to Greuther Furth, who are newcomers to the German Bundesliga, but will not be offered a deal, according to club president Helmut Hack.

"We don't think it is right to add another player to our squad at this time. He (Mushekwi) should have come to us three weeks earlier but his club (Sundowns) were playing games. He was at the airport five times ready to fly before he was eventually given permission to leave.

"Then we organised a friendly match so that we could see him play but his club refused to allow him to compete. The impression for us from just three training sessions is not enough for us to make a decision. It makes it difficult for us to sign him," he said.

Russian club FC Rostov have put a deal on the table for centre-back Xulu, but Sundowns wanted it doubled. Xulu's agent says he feels there is still a 25% chance of the deal going through. Neeskens said, however, that he had no indication that either player would be leaving the club before Friday's transfer deadline and was continuing his planning for the Sunday league match against Maritzburg United with both players in mind.
