Jomo Sono appointed to the PSL competitions' subcommittee

"We cannot allow talent to go unnoticed, he is one of the South Africans serving us with aplomb in Fifa" - Irvin Khoza

LEGENDARY Ephraim "Jomo" Sono has been appointed to serve on one of the Premier Soccer League's crucial subcommittees.

The Jomo Cosmos owner-coach is the latest addition to the PSL competitions committee, which deals with all the competitions of the league.

Sono, who is also held in high esteem by the world governing soccer body for his massive contribution to the development of the game, confirmed the appointment yesterday.

The committee is chaired by Stan Matthews, the chief executive officer of Absa Premiership log leaders SuperSport United.

"I was informed about my appointment by the chairman (of the league Irvin Khoza)," said Sono yesterday.

Khoza said: "We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Sono to the competitions committee of the PSL, one of the best brains in South African football.

"We cannot allow talent to go unnoticed, he is one of the South Africans serving us with aplomb in Fifa.

"The PSL continues to grow in leaps and bounds, that is why we need all the available expertise on board to help us grow this organisation.

"Mr Sono is one of the remaining archives of South African football.

"When football was evolving in South Africa, Mr Sono was one of the people at the forefront of the formation of the PSL, which is now one of the richest leagues in the world."
