Ndlazi new Atlie coach

FORMER national Under-23 and Manzini Sundowns head coach Kenny Ndlazi has signed a one-season deal with Atlie FC, formerly Nathi Lions.

While Atlie FC chief executive officer Andrew Mosesi refused to confirm or deny Ndlazi's appointment, our sources have revealed that he has signed a contract for one season with the Kempton Park-based National First Division club.

He will be assisted by Sello "Skorokoro" Chokoe.

"Yes, I can confirm that we have concluded negotiations with one of the well-known South African coaches, but we can not announce his name now," Mosesi said yesterday.

"We will only be in a position to do the announcement at a press conference whose date will be confirmed (today). At this stage the coach is not at liberty to make any media comments."

But Sowetan's source said: "Coach Ndlazi started with his responsibilities at the club (yesterday) and his mandate is to deliver the team to the Premiership.

"What I got from Bra Kenny is that he has put in place a target of 25 points in the first round of the league to ensure that in the second round they contest to qualify for the (promotion) play-offs.

"Bra Kenny said his youthful squad will be equal to the task and contest from the first match."

The source also revealed that Atlie FC were on the verge of signing former Platinum Stars player Thabiso "Spikiri" Monareng.

During his stay in Swaziland Ndlazi took Swallows from the First Division to the Swaziland Premier League and they finished third on the log last season.

Ndlazi was assisted by former Moroka Swallows defender Rodney Charles, who has been elevated to the position of head coach after Ndlazi's departure.
