Costa Rican man allegedly kills wife, posts photo of body

The killing was seen by many in this normally peaceful Central American country as a copy cat killing, following a similar case recently in Miami. There, a man allegedly killed his wife and then posted a photo and confession on Facebook.

A man in Costa Rica allegedly killed his wife and confessed by sending relatives a photo of her body via the smartphone application WhatsApp, news reports said Monday.

The killing was seen by many in this normally peaceful Central American country as a copy cat killing, following a similar case recently in Miami. There, a man allegedly killed his wife and then posted a photo and confession on Facebook.

In the Costa Rican case, the 29-year-old man led relatives to the woman's body and then sent messages telling people where he himself could be found, the television station Repretel said.

Police arrested him. The man put up no resistance. There was no word on a motive for the killing.

It all happened Saturday in the village of Huacas, 210 kilometers (120 miles) northwest of the capital San Jose.

Police said the woman may have been strangled.
