Two suspects to appear in court on drug dealing charges


A man and woman will appear in Strand Magistrate’s Court in Cape Town on Monday on drug dealing charges.

Members of SAPS were conducting a search operation in Lawandle on Friday evening when they came across a male and female allegedly dealing in drugs at their residential premises‚ said police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Andre Traut.

“Our endeavours to rid the streets of the Western Cape from drugs resulted in the arrest of two suspects for being in possession of drugs and a large amount of cash‚ suspected to be the proceeds of drug trafficking‚” said Traut.

Traut said that police found a tub of tik‚ six packets of tik‚ scales and R109‚160 in cash at the residential premises . A 27-year-old male and a 28-year-old female were arrested at the house and kept in custody for the weekend.

“The value of the drugs is yet to be determined. The suspects have been detained on a charge of dealing in drugs and are expected to make a court appearance in Strand on Monday‚” Traut said.
