Two arrested for murdering a fellow student

Two students Okene Douglas (21) and Tebello Tsubella (22) of the Central University of Technology in Bloemfontein appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate`s Court on 27 July 2015 for the brutal killing of their fellow student.

The 25-year-old deceased was a second year engineering student. He was allegedly assaulted with golf sticks and stabbed to death by the two fellow students at his apartment in Parffit Street on the evening of 18 July 2015.

His assailants allegedly disposed of his body by burning it and later dumped it near the railway line in the Uitsig suburb. The charred body remains were discovered on 20 July by a passerby motorist who then alerted the police.

Further investigations revealed that the suspects robbed the deceased of an undisclosed amount of cash, a Plasma TV set, iPhone, clothes and his vehicle.

The vehicle was later found abandoned next to the road in Gunns Street, in the Universitas suburb on 22 July 2015.

The two suspects were arrested on 24 July 2015 at their block of flats in Willows.

In a shocking turn of events one of the suspects turned out to be the deceased`s close friend from home in Nigeria and they had both come to South Africa to further their studies.

The suspects appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate`s Court on a charge of murder; they remain in custody and the case has been postponed to the 03 August 2015 for bail application the SAPS said in a statement.
