MEC's ignorance so embarrassing

I COULDN'T hold back my laughter on hearing that KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Nomsa Dube, pictured, is calling for a full investigation of deaths caused by lightning.

She further said that the national Department of Science and Technology must assist with the investigation.

What trash from the office of the MEC.

These Standard 5 political appointees are a shame to the nation. How can you investigate lightning?

So, she doesn't know what causes lightning?

It was good of her to visit the bereaved families, but to suggest that a natural disaster be investigated is foolish.

She is even suggesting that the national department might help with lightning-preventing instruments.

It's high time that these political appointments be stopped and deserving people appointed to prevent further embarrassments from government officials.

It's high time that academic qualifications and previous experience are made prerequisites when appointing people.

Does Dube have an adviser?

If so, she had better take her adviser and leave that public office. - Mapo Phaahle wa Mokoena, Ga Masemola
