R10000 cash boost for school

GOSPEL sensation group Joyous Celebration will give back to the community today when they donate R10000 to a school in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria, for a sporting kit.

GOSPEL sensation group Joyous Celebration will give back to the community today when they donate R10000 to a school in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria, for a sporting kit.

The group, which is gearing up for its Celebration Life Tour next month, will hand out the cheque to Hlanganani Secondary School in the township.

Group spokesperson Jabu Hlongwane said Hlanganani was one of several schools they would help with finance.

"We will also motivate students, not preach to them, but speak about reality and bring out the best in them," Hlongwane said.

He said they have been involved in similar projects in the past. The group will also perform at Mabopane Central City in the afternoon.

Their tour, at the State Theatre in Pretoria, runs from April 1 to 4.

The group's sponsor, Old Mutual, will also provide a wellness area at Mabopane Central City where visitors can meet financial advisors for financial fitness assessment, as well as nurses who will examine cholesterol levels, blood pressure and body mass index.

Thandi Mosupye of Old Mutual said the relationship with Joyous Celebration was important.

"Together we help communities build their futures," Mosupye said.
