Chief attacked after 'he was found stealing goats'

A LIMPOPO chief is fighting for his life in hospital after he was attacked by community members in Malomanye village in Atok in the Sekhukhune area while allegedly stealing goats.

Mashile Phasha, the self-proclaimed chief of the Baroka-ba-ga-Nkwana, was allegedly caught stealing the goats on Friday morning.

Villagers attacked him with an assortment of objects.

His double-cab Ford Ranger was also torched by villagers.

Police spokesperson Superintendent Mohale Ramatseba said yesterday that Phasha's head was so badly injured that he had to be admitted to the intensive care unit of an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

No one has been arrested in connection with the attack.
