HOSTS Bloemfontein Celtic ran riot yesterday as they hammered Ajax Cape Town 4-2 in an Absa Premiership match at Seisa Ramabodu Stadium.

Celtic led 2-1 at half-time.

Celtic's goals were scored by Cecil Oerson, Tlou Segolela and Prince Olomu, while Ajax defender Derek Decamps scored an own goal in an attempt to clear the ball.

But Decamps made up for his blunder by scoring the first goal for the Urban Warriors with Fofana Aboubacar adding the second.

Celtic players were firing on all cylinders, but their attempts found keeper Hans Vonk equal to the task.

Celtic were awarded a penalty in the ninth minute after Moses Spandeel was fouled inside the box during a goalmouth mêlée. But Sandile Ndlovu's shot came off the upright.

Celtic finally got it right in the 32nd minute through Oerson - but the host team's joy was short-lived. Decamps cancelled the goal a minute later with a superb header past Patrick Tignyemb.

The goal revived the visitors' fighting spirit but they,, unfortunately, failed to take the advantage. They paid dearly for that when defender Decamps scored an own goal in the 44th minute in an effort to clear a cross from Tlou Segolela.

The searing heat, however, seemed to have an impact on Ajax strikers, who faded as the game progressed.

Spandeel wasted two clear chances in the 59th and 60th minutes after beating defenders. He fired straight at Vonk on both occasions.

Ajax introduced Cole Alexander and Fofana Aboubacar for Clifford Ngobeni and Nhlanhla Shabalala. Aboubacar levelled matters in the 80th minute with a fine header.

Celtic were not fazed by the goal but instead piled on more pressure, which paid off in the 85th minute when Olomu scored their third.

Segolela added his name to the score sheet four minutes later, much to the delight of Celtic fans, who reciprocated with a song and dance.
