Well done for exposing police

I would like to thank your hard-working reporters who exposed the police officers who harassed, humiliated and raped our sisters at the weekend.

I would like to thank your hard-working reporters who exposed the police officers who harassed, humiliated and raped our sisters at the weekend.

I have been following the story closely and I would like to show my support for your efforts to stop crime, especially the abuse of power by the police - the very people who are supposed to protect us.

My sister also suffered at the hands of the police. In 2006 in Pretoria police were searching people on the streets and at roadblocks.

They stopped my sister at a roadblock and wanted to search her. A policewoman was aggressive

My sister asked why she was being searched and harassed. The policewoman shoved her into a van and she was arrested.

I went to the police station and was told my sister had been arrested for obstructing the law, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.

My sister is petite, how could she fight all those officers?

She was refused bail on Saturday and Sunday. On Monday she appeared in court and the charges were dropped. The arresting officer was not even present in court.

This whole exercise cost me R3000 in lawyer's fees.

Again, big ups to the Sowetan team.
