Lucky Mzizi and Malawian central defender Clement Kafwafwa are among the new players who will be paraded by Bloemfontein Celtic in a friendly against Free State Stars in Bethlehem on Sunday.

The Free State derby takes place at Bohlokong Stadium and kickoff is at 3pm.

Mzizi, from Kaizer Chiefs, has signed a two-season contract with Phunya Selesele.

His move to Bloemfontein came after a loan spell with AmaZulu last term.

"Sunday's match will be a perfect opportunity for our new coach Khabo Zondo to assess the players," Celtic spokesman Sello Nduna said yesterday.

"There are also young local players who have been training with us and they will also be looked at by the coach on the day. We will also plead with our supporters at the stadium to redouble their efforts by voting in numbers to ensure that we qualify for the Telkom Charity Cup."

Celtic will start the new season next month without winger Saul Mmethi, who is out for six months after he underwent a knee operation two weeks ago.

Ea lla koto will showcase their new recruits such as defender James Matola, who was snatched from SuperSport United, and 2006/07 National First Division joint top goalscorer Sthembiso Ngcobo, who was signed from Durban Stars.

"The match is also important to our new coach, Kinnah Phiri, and the players," Louis "Sprinter" Tshakoane, the newly-appointed Stars' publicist said yesterday.

"Our supporters must come in big numbers on Sunday to prove to us that they will back the team next season."

Meanwhile, Celtic are inviting their supporters to an urgent general meeting at Paradise Hall in Bochabela tomorrow at 5pm.

And Stars have invited all chairmen of supporters' branches in the province to a meeting at the Bohlokong Community Hall on Sunday at 10am.
