Lock-in child tracker meets fundraising goal

Commonly focused on safety, wearables for kids are popping up everywhere, but Kiband is unique because it can't be removed by the child.

Parents seem to approve of the idea because the band, which is intended for children between 18 months and seven years of age, reached its crowd-funding goal of $25,000 last week.

Parents and caregivers can lock the band into place and unlock it using the app, which also enables them to establish a range for the child to play in.

Should the child wander outside the predetermined range, the band gently reminds him or her by means of a vibration.

Meanwhile, the parent will hear an audible alarm via smartphone that indicates where the child is.

A water alert lets the parent know if the band is submersed.

The band can still be pre-ordered for $89 and shipping is free within the US with delivery expected for July.
