Tips for beating a cold
HOW to treat a cold:
Blow your nose often: It's important to blow your nose regularly, rather than sniffing mucus down your throat. However, do not blow too hard and always wash your hands after blowing your nose.
Rest: Resting when you first begin to feel a cold coming on will help you to direct your energy towards fighting the cold.
Gargle: Gargling moistens a dry throat, which relieves it. Try a teaspoon of salt dissolved in warm water, four times a day.
Hot drinks: Hot liquids relieve nasal congestion and help to prevent dehydration.
Steamy shower: A steamy shower will moisturise your nasal passages and relax you.
Hot/cold packs for your sinuses: Either temperature may make you more comfortable.
Use an extra pillow: This will help to drain the nasal passages.
Stay on the ground: Avoid flying as the change in air pressure will make you feel worse.
