Beauty has big plans

MISS SA 2010 contestant Dhesha Jeram is hoping to Salsa dance her way to the crown at Sun City on Sunday.

The 23-year-old economics and management University of Cape Town graduate from Constantia, Cape Town, loves dancing and has recently taken up the sexy Latin American salsa dance.

Jeram spent this weekend with the other 11 contestants at the Nedbank Golf Challenge 2010, getting a taste of the high life to come, should she be crowned South Africa's top beauty queen this year.

She said if crowned Miss SA 2010 she would dedicate her reign to education.

"Coming from an economic background I can see the effects illiteracy has on society and the economy," she said. "Many people are not skilled to get good jobs. But I am a firm believer in not giving a man a fish to feed his family, but giving him a fishing rod and teaching him how to fish," Jeram said.

"I love this experience. There is so much to a beauty pageant. You grow so much, meet so many people and learn many life skills.

"At school I was very shy because I was always taller than the others. I was self-conscious. Modeling and beauty pageants have helped me build my confidence."

Jeram works for Shell SA in the human resources department. Her hobbies include gym, art and reading. I strive to be successful in everything I do," Jeram said.

She was crowned first princess in Miss KwaZulu- Natal in 2006, and is a part-time model with Fusion Models.
