Polokwane City coach Lehlohonolo Seema has suggested the Carling Knockout quarterfinals will be even more interesting after most of the bigger teams were elbowed out of the competition in the first round.

Polokwane thumped one of the competition's favourites, SuperSport United, 1-4 at TUT Stadium on Sunday to book their berth in the last eight, where they'll host Stellenbosch at Peter Mokaba Stadium next month.

Perennial league champions Mamelodi Sundowns and Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs are the other big guns who were eliminated from the first round after losing to TS Galaxy and AmaZulu respectively.

"It's always nice for the teams that are so-called small to remain in these competitions. Most of the time you find that these competitions become one-sided and they become boring," Seema said after their heavy win at SuperSport.

"These matches [the quarterfinals] are going to be nice but we are not looking at any team and saying 'yeah, this one is going to be easier than others'. All of them [the remaining eight teams] are tough."

Seema knows Stellies will still be as tough of a nut to crack, banking on the fact that they'll be at home. "The good thing is we will be playing at home but Stellenbosch are a very difficult team, so we are expecting a very difficult game,'' the Polokwane trainer said.

Hlayisi Chauke's second-half brace combined with a goal apiece from Oswin Appolis and Ndamulelo Maphangule is what inspired Rise and Shine to demolish Matsatsantsa a Pitori. Terrence Dzvukamanja scored the hosts' consolation goal.

"We stuck to our game plan. We knew that SuperSport have one of the most prolific strikers in the division and all of them played but we managed to nullify them even though one of them [Dzvukamanja] managed to get a goal which was a good goal, striker's goal, sniper,'' Seema said.

Seema also reserved a special praise for the 22-year-old Appolis, who's SuperSport development's product. "He [Appolis] is a humble boy, very quick and nippy. He's smart and brave as well. He's got a lot of qualities that also bring the team together.''
