Chippa salvage a point, still unbeaten at home

Chippa United coach Dan "Dance" Malesela says his troops lacked an obvious hunger to win in their 1-1 draw with Platinum Stars in the Absa Premiership clash at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Friday.

The Port Elizabeth side had a late chance to snatch the game when they were awarded a penalty but striker Lerato Manzini sent the ball sailing over the bar.

Malesela believes this was a clear sign that his players were not hungry enough for a win.

Despite the draw the Chilli Boys remain unbeaten at home this season.

"Not a good display from ourselves at all," said a disappointed Malesela. "There were a lot of errors that cost us big time.

"It could have cost us the entire three points. In some situations you look at how hungry we are, we didn't seem to play the part today.

"We didn't seem like people playing at home and keen to get points."

The result meant Stars are winless in their past five matches. They last tasted victory in their opening match against SuperSport United in August.

SuperSport, meanwhile, heaped more pressure on winless Ajax Cape Town beating them 2-1 at the Cape Town Stadium.

Jeremy Brockie and Reneilwe Letsholonyane - with a late goal - scored to ensure Stuart Baxter's men record a morale-boosting away win.

Bidvest Wits, also playing away, beat Bloemfontein Celtic 2-1 at the Petrus Molemela Stadium to bring to an end Serame Letsoaka's reign as Phunya Sele Sele coach.

On Friday, Maritzburg United and Arrows drew 2-2 in a KZN derby.
