There'll be more players going out than coming in at Mamelodi Sundowns this month as coach Pitso Mosimane believes a number of them deserve a chance to prove themselves elsewhere.

The likes of Tiyani Mabunda, Mukuka Mulenga, Lindokuhle Mbatha, Sibusiso Kumalo, Percy Tau, Thela Ngobeni and Mario Booysen are set to be either sold or loaned out by the club.

"If we have not used you for two years, then why should we hang on to you? We don't want to hang on to a player like Mabunda. We will try place him at another club," Mosimane said.

"We have a guy like Mario Booysen who is struggling to get a place. Percy Tau needs to go play. Thela Ngobeni needs to play. Mukuka Mulenga needs to go play. Kumalo needs to go play. [Uzoenyi] Ejike has had a long-term injury and to come back after a long injury is not easy at Sundowns."

Mosimane, however, is keen to keep defender Rheece Evans. Maritzburg United were keen to sign the versatile defender, but Sundowns are not willing to let him go.

"We think Evans can stay with us for the Champions League because we need numbers there. His advantage is that he can play right back, left back and he can play as a centre back."

Burundian striker Fiston Abdul Razak is a regular goalscorer for his national team, but has struggled to convince Mosimane he deserves a place in the team.

The striker, however, may get a chance to prove himself in the Champions League.

"The Abdul Razak situation is amazing. He is struggling to make it with us, but internationally he is top. He says 'coach come and watch me score the goals' and he scores. He goes to DRC, he scores. Every international game he plays he scores. But he is struggling here."

l Meanwhile, SuperSport United have confirmed that Bongani Khunalo has left the club after just six months. The former captain had rejoined Matsatsantsa at the beginning of this season following an unsuccessful overseas spell, but a lack of game time saw him being released yesterday. He played just 10 games in the first half of the season.

"The club and the player had an option to release Khumalo and after discussions between the parties, it was agreed to part ways," SuperSport said in a statement.

"Bongani is a consummate professional, he was unhappy at not getting game time in recent matches, we as a club can also not afford to have a big player like him sitting on the bench so we agreed to let him go and explore his options, we wish him all the best," the club statement, quoting chief executive Stan Mathews, said
