Masango in line for Randers debut as red tape is cleared

Mandla Masango began training with his new teammates at Danish side Randers yesterday and is now ready to begin his new career in Europe after receiving a work permit.

Masango will be in contention for Sunday's league match with Viborg, who were thumped 4-0 by Lebogang Phiri's Brondby last weekend.

It took just a week for Masango to get his documentation with the club eager to get the Bafana Bafana midfielder onto the pitch as soon as possible.

The news is also good for national team coach Shakes Mashaba, who selected Masango for his squad to face Mauritania in a vital Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on September 5.

"He is a different type of offensive player to the ones that we already have. He has the ability to keep defenders busy with his speed and good control of the ball," Masango's new coach Colin Todd said on his signing.

"Mandla gives our squad a new, exciting dimension, and I also believe that he will be interesting to follow for our supporters."

Randers are currently fifth in the Danish league with two wins and a draw from their four matches played to date.

But the frustrating wait continues for another former Kaizer Chiefs star, Tefu Mashamaite, who has yet to receive his work permit in Sweden, where he recently joined BK Hacken.

Hacken's sporting director Sonny Karlsson confirmed that it could be some time before the paperwork comes through.

"We are expecting it to take probably another three weeks from now before it comes through," he said.

Mashamaite is itching to get going in Sweden and will miss the high-profile fixture with Malmo tomorrow, as well as a meeting with Ayanda Nkili's Orebro.
