Matsatsantsa re-sign Kekana

SuperSport United have re-signed defender Grant Kekana from University of Pretoria, with striker Thabiso Nkoana moving in the opposite direction.

Kekana hopes to take the next step in his career at a top-eight club and feels that his game will flourish under Matsatsantsa coach Gordon Igesund.

The 22-year-old made his Premier Soccer League debut for AmaTuks in the 2010-2011 season, where his potential was spotted by United and he switched Tshwane clubs midway through that campaign.

He spent two more seasons with Matsatsantsa, but saw his opportunities limited and at the end of the 2012-2013 campaign decided to return to AmaTuks to get more game time.

That he certainly got as he started 56 of AmaTuks 60 league matches over the next two seasons.

The plan appears to have worked well, with United agreeing a transfer with AmaTuks and a three-year contract with Kekana to bring him back to the club for the next campaign.

"He enjoyed his time previously with SuperSport, even if he did not feature as much as he would have liked," the player's intermediary Glyn Binkin said.

"With a year to go on his contract it was a no-brainer for AmaTuks to sell."

It is likely that Kekana has been lined up as a replacement for the Ghanaian defender Edwin Gyimah.
