Cricket South Africa (CSA) paid tribute to Gladwin Niewenhuizen who passed away in Kimberley at the weekend.
“Gladwin was one of those unsung heroes of South African cricket,” said CSA Chief Executive, Haroon Lorgat. “At the time of his passing he was treasurer of Rural Cricket South Africa, President of Rural Cricket in the Northern Cape and a Director of the Board of the Griqua Diamonds.
"It is a loss for our cricket, particularly in the development of the game in the rural areas.
“On behalf of the Cricket South Africa Family I extend our deepest condolences to his wife, Elenor, his children, his many friends and his cricketing colleagues in the Northern Cape.”
