Maritzburg test Celtic's recovery

JUST a few weeks ago nothing was going right for Bloemfontein Celtic, with just one victory and four goals scored in seven matches.

But after their Macufe Cup victory over Kaizer Chiefs three weeks ago, Celtic have won two league matches on the trot, scoring seven goals in the process.

Ahead of tonight's Absa Premiership clash with Maritzburg United, Ernst Middendorp's men are in a more comfortable ninth place on 12 points and are high on confidence.

"The victory against Chiefs in the Macufe Cup gave us a big boost," Celtic midfielder Keagan Buchanan said.

"It does not matter if the game was against a Kaizer Chiefs A team or a B team. Chiefs is Chiefs and the victory was good. We regained our confidence."

Buchanan, though, has warned his teammates not to get carried away after their two victories. Celtic visit third-placed Maritz_ burg, who are unbeaten at home this season, at Harry Gwala Stadium.

"It's going to be a tough game. There was a bit of a panic when the results were not coming, but we are clicking now. I just think we should not get carried away and think that we have bounced back. We need to win four or five matches in a row," the 23-year- old said.

Buchanan believes the form shown recently by his teammates Vuyani Ntanga and Jacky Motshegwa is one of the reasons Celtic have managed to get positive results. Ntanga returned to the first team after impressing in the Multichoice Diski Challenge and Motshegwa is making up for lost time after failing to make his mark at Orlando Pirates.
