Le Clos not sure of Rio schedule

NOT even Chad le Clos, exhausted from his seven- medal haul in Glasgow, knows what events he will swim at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

And right now he’s happy to keep his rivals guessing.

“It’s hard to say now,” Le Clos said yesterday before flying back to South Africa.

“I really want to go there and win the 100m and 200m butterfly. I want to challenge [Michael] Phelps’s world records.

“As for the other races, I’m not too sure.”

But he suggested he would not look to chase as many gongs in Rio as he managed in Glasgow.

“I definitely see more than two medals. The relays will be there. I want to win double gold [in the butterfly races].

“I don’t want to be unrealistic and say I want to win seven or eight medals, but at the same time I still think there’s a lot to improve on by then.”

He praised his coach, Graham Hill, for selecting the right races.

“Hats off to Graham. He really picked those races well.”
