Ajax face nemesis Celtic

AJAX Cape Town's slender top-eight hopes rest on them achieving the rarest of things - a league victory at Bloemfontein Celtic at Free State Stadium today.

Kick off is at 7.30pm.

The Urban Warriors have just a single Absa Premiership win on the road against Celtic in their previous 11 attempts - and that dates way back to 2000.

And for a team with just three away wins in the last two years, it looks more and more like mission impossible.

But win they must as they trail eighth-placed Platinum Stars by four points, but have played a game less, while victory would also pull Phunya SeleSele, currently in seventh, to within two of fourth.

That would set up Ajax's visit to Dikwena on Saturday nicely for one final push for a place in the MTN8.

Coach Roger de Sa has received a boost ahead of the fixture with the news that key stars - skipper Dominic Isaacs, playmaker Keagan Dolly and defender Thulani Hlatshwayo - will all be fit to travel. A win for Celtic would ensure a top-half finish and could take Ernst Middendorp's side as high as fourth in the table if other results go their way.

Meanwhile, Bidvest Wits are chasing a piece of history as they prepare to host Maritzburg United tonight.

The Clever Boys need two points from their final two matches to finish the season with the highest points tally in the club's history - 55.

The match starts at 7.30pm.
