AJAX Cape Town must be paying their team doctor overtime as their injury list continues to grow.

The Urban Warriors have at times been without almost an entire team of players as their injury list hovers around the 11- player mark.

They are picking up an injury-a-game this season. Mozambican import Telhino received a knock in the draw with Mamelodi Sundowns last week and was ruled out of the weekend loss against Polokwane City, and young goalkeeper Brandon Peterson was stretchered off in the defeat against the Citizens.

They are, however, hopeful of having two or three players back from the sick bay by the time they take on SuperSport United in the first round of the Telkom Knockout on October 5.

Peterson has been given the week off training to recover after falling awkwardly in Polokwane and will be assessed on Saturday to see whether he can join the group next week.

Bafana Bafana right-back Thulani Hlatshwayo resumed full training yesterday and if he has no reaction to the knock picked up on national team duty against Zimbabwe a fortnight ago, will be back in contention for the Matsatsantsa game.

Telhino has started doing some jogging and light training, but should be able to step it up in the next few days.

Defensive midfielder Nhlanhla Shabalala is expected to be back in training soon as well.

Those key players that remain sidelined for the moment are defender Nazeer Allie, young midfielders Travis Graham and Toriq Losper, wide midfielders Franklin Cale and Koen van der Laak, and Ndumiso Vezi, who is still recovering from a serious car accident.
