MAURITIUS - Sepp Blatter has called Australia's candidate for a new woman's place on the Fifa executive committee "good and good looking" in an address to the Asian Football Confederation.

Blatter briefly addressed the AFC Congress meeting yesterday, praising Moya Dodd, an AFC vice president, former Australia international and one of four women standing for the seat on the top executive committee.

In his first speech in Mauritius ahead of Fifa's annual congress, Blatter also confirmed that he would ask the congress tomorrow to suspend a decision on the introduction of age and term limits for high-ranking officials until at least next year, saying he will propose that the 209-member countries "postpone this problem".

  • The Croatian Football Association was fined $51500 (R505 000) for offensive chants by fans at a World Cup qualifying match against Serbia in March.

However, Croatia avoided a stadium closure which football's governing body has ordered for World Cup qualifiers in other discrimination cases this season.

The latest case involving Croatia fans follows criticism from Uefa president Michel Platini last June after a series of incidents, including racial abuse targeted at Italy forward Mario Balotelli.
