CRICKET South Africa (CSA) announced that Solo Nqweni, the 19-year-old Eastern Province fast bowler, has been re-tested successfully and consequently reinstated to bowl at all levels of cricket.

Nqweni was placed under rehabilitation for his bowling action followed tests carried out by the Australian Institute of Sport and by the Sports Science Institute of South Africa that found his action to be illegal.

The rehabilitation took place under the direction of Eastern Province Cricket and Cricket Eastern Cape with assistance from CSA’s High Performance personnel and resulted in his being successfully re-tested.

“Solo can thus resume his bowling career with immediate effect,” commented Corrie van Zyl, CSA General Manager: Cricket. “The development of a player is very carefully managed and nurtured by both CSA and the various franchises to make sure that talent doesn’t get lost. I believe this is an example of excellent co-operation of the various parties in the interest of player development and well being.”
