ORLANDO Pirates and SuperSport United head into African competitions this weekend, but both clubs will first need to take care of Premier Soccer League obligations - against one another.

After the Africa Cup of Nations finals, the local leagues settle back into routine from tomorrow night with Mamelodi Sundowns hosting Kaizer Chiefs at Loftus.

Pirates, who qualified for the African Champions League by virtue of being league champions, are up against FC Djabal of the Comores on Saturday. However, they have the not-so-small matter of a league encounter against United at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday night.

Matsatsantsa are campaigning in the Confederations Cup following their Nedbank Cup triumph last season. They face the Democratic Republic of Congo's Don Bosco in Kinshasa also on Saturday.

The Buccaneers are second on the Premier League log with 34 points, just one behind league leaders Chiefs.

United are in eighth place on 20 points.

Pirates skipper Lucky Lekgwathi insists his team will focus on Wednesday's game before even thinking about taking on FC Djabal.

Lekgwathi says the league game will be "a great appetiser for the fans ahead of our CAF competitions over the weekend".

"United are a great team with excellent players. They have signed some new players, including Bradley Grobler, but we are ready for them. We want to face FC Djabal in high spirits," said the Bucs skipper.

"We want to start 2013 on a high note with a win. I must say we expect a difficult match, though."
