PSL players dominate Zim national team

ZIMBABWE have named 10 players from PSL in their 23-man squad for their friendly against Botswana in Harare on Wednesday.

Their new German coach, Klaus Deter Pagels, will be using the game to prepare for next month's tough World Cup assignment in Egypt.

Pagels has however dropped captain Tapuwa Kapini from AmaZulu as well as his deputy Esrom Nyandoro (Mamelodi Sundowns) in what could be a curtain coming down on their international careers.

Also dropped is Oscar Machapa of Moroka Swallows and towering AmaZulu centre-back Carlington Nyadombo. The coach, who was previously technical director of the Zimbabwe Football Association, is apparently looking for younger talent. Zimbabwe have re-called Tafadzwa Rusike from Ajax Cape Town after his suspension in the Asiagate affair and added Matthew Rusike of Kaizer Chiefs for a possible first cap.

Three new signings for PSL are also included - Zimbabwe's Footballer of the Year Denver Mukamba, who has joined BidVest Wits, Rodreck Mutuma of Bloemfontein Celtic and Simba Sithole, who formerly played for Sundowns, then went back to Zimbabwe and returned to SA with SuperSport United
