A Moroka Swallows soccer player was arrested for speeding on the R21 near the Olifantsfontein offramp on Saturday, Gauteng traffic police’s high speed unit said.
“[He was caught] travelling at 171 km/h with his silver Jeep SRT whilst on his way to the airport,” spokeswoman Bushapi Nxumalo said.
The 30-year-old was arrested and charged with reckless and negligent driving with an alternative charge of exceeding the speed limit.
He will appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.
