CHIPPING IN: Crystal Palace's Kagisho Dikgacoi

Crystal Palace manager Dougie Freedman has revealed how a change in team tactics has led to Kagisho Dikgacoi's fine run of scoring form this season.

"KG" has netted four goals in seven starts for The Eagles this season, more than doubling his previous tally of three goals in 41 games for the side prior to the campaign. Freedman and his technical team decided that they wanted to push Dikgacoi forward and use his natural finishing ability that he displayed in training.

"In the summer we had a chat that we needed a midfielder that could chip in with a few more goals," Freedman said. "So within the coaching staff, we decided we needed to throw that extra man into the box more at the right time. I think he's making some very good runs into the box, he's got more responsibility to get into the box and get us maybe seven or eight goals.

"KG has taken that on board and we've uncovered a goalscoring midfielder."

His form in front of goal might be of interest to Bafana coach Gordon Igesund, with the team battling to get goals from midfield.

The only midfielders to have netted for Bafana since June 2010 are Siphiwe Tshabalala (three), Steven Pienaar, Andile Jali and Mzikayise Mashaba. Dikgacoi has netted just two goals in his 45 previous Bafana internationals, both in a 4-1 win over Equatorial Guinea in 2008.
