THE two surprise packages in the SA Premiership so far - University of Pretoria and Maritzburg United - are in action against potentially slippery opposition tonight that might threaten their unbeaten starts.

AmaTuks shocked many when they bulldozed last year's league runners-up and newly crowned MTN8 champions Moroka Swallows 3-2 a fortnight ago.

Lanky Senegalese target man Mame Niang fired two goals past his former team and will be a factor again when they face Platinum Stars at the Tuks Stadium in Pretoria tonight (all games kick off at 7.30pm).

The PSL new boys, along with Maritzburg United, are on eight points after two wins and two draws in their opening four matches of the season and are in fourth position, giving the log an unfamiliar look.

Steve Barker's AmaTuks, bolstered by signings such as Niang from SuperSport United and David Radebe from National First Division side United FC, have not been overawed by Premier League football since joining from the second tier.

Platinum Stars, on the other hand, have been rudderless since their shock win over Swallows in their opening fixture and have slumped to three consecutive defeats, the last of which was 1-0 at the hands of title-holders Orlando Pirates at home.
