SUPERSPORT United are the only club in the PSL Gauteng Monday League who are still unbeaten after nine matches.

United are away to second-placed Orlando Pirates in a top of the table clash at Mayfair Sport Grounds today in Johannesburg. Kickoff is at 3.30pm.

Guided by Gavin Hunt and his assistant Thomas Madidage, United are perched at the top of the log after collecting all the 27 points at stake from nine matches. Pirates have bagged 14 points from eight matches, having lost three games and drawn one.

Madigage said they wanted to beat Pirates to consolidate their top spot on the league.

"We want to keep on winning our matches, for us this league is very important. The problem is that other clubs do not take it seriously.

"We cannot blame the PSL, we as clubs must get our act together for the success of the league. One example is the game we played against Moroka Swallows last week, we beat them 9-0, that team won't even survive in the SAB Regional League.

"We are talking bout Swallows, which has produced the likes of Ace Mnini, Steve Sekano, Manello Rapelego, Vader Mophosho and Chaka Chaka Mpondo. As SuperSport United, we are using the league to keep our players who are not regulars in good shape. Training without playing is not good enough.

"We are also using it to introduce youngsters into the PSL environment. It is a great platform to have a look at players on trial."

Madigage says Monday League matches should be played in the evening because of the heat during the day, as well as work and school hours.
