Sascoc secures biggest sponsorship yet

SASCOC has bagged the biggest sponsorship of its eight-year existence, and though the value wasn't disclosed, it is believed to be at least R3-million for this year alone.

The deal with fast-moving consumer goods company Procter and Gamble will last four years with an option to renew in 2016. The first phase will help SA athletes ahead of the London Olympic Games in July, as well as sports development programmes at school level.

Specific details of the development programme had yet to be worked out, said Stanislav Vecera, Procter and Gamble's vice-president for south and east Africa.

"This is the biggest sponsorship," Sascoc CEO Tubby Reddy confirmed.

Sascoc is expected to announce a second sponsorship next week and a third early next month.
