Wenger linked with Real move

FOOTBALL'S transfer window is not limited to rash talk about player movements. Managers can come into the picture too.

Now the story is floated - under an "exclusive" banner too - that Arsene Wenger is to quit Arsenal for Real Madrid. The Mail in London claimed that Wenger was one of two managers listed to replace Jose Mourinho whose relationship with Real's players and hierarchy, so the paper said, was "beyond repair".

The other name on the list is Joachim Low. Remember him? He was the dashing Germany coach at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Mourinho almost confirmed his departure when he said on Tuesday: "I don't know if I'll be at Real Madrid next season." But with the Special One, it is never clear what he might be playing at.

Wenger turned down a chance to move to Madrid in 2009, but the Spanish La Liga leaders clearly believe they have a better chance of luring him to the Bernabeau.

Wenger has been under pressure at Arsenal after they lost their last three English Premier League matches and are five points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea.
