Bafana drop in Fifa rankings

BAFANA Bafana's woes continued yesterday after they dropped four places to 53 on the latest Fifa rankings.

This comes after the team failed to register a single win in their last four matches - suffering defeats against Niger in the 2012 Afcon qualifier and Zimbabwe in an international friendly.

Bafana registered draws against Ivory Coast in the Mandela Challenge and Sierra Leone in the Afcon qualifier.

Bafana celebrated the draw against the Leone Stars in Mbombela as if they have won the World Cup as they were convinced that they have qualified for Afcon finals.

They were disappointed later when they learnt that the stalemate was insignificant.

Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane has made it clear he was planning to organise a series of friendlies against top-ranked teams to make up for their failure to qualify for the Afcon finals.

Mosimane, whose team will play against India, Zambia and Ghana in January, could not be reached for comment on the latest rankings yesterday.
